The purposes of this case report are to look at a patient with an above-knee amputation and his pre-prosthetic rehabilitation regimen and to discuss key elements that should be present in a pre-prosthetic training program to allow for optimal mobility with a prosthetic limb. WebbPre- prosthetic training After the patient has an amputation in the lower extremity, they will remain in the acute care hospital until they are medically stable. After that time they may be either transferred to a skilled nursing facility (SNF), acute inpatient rehabilitation facility or discharged home with homecare services.
